Corporate Volunteering
At Cyrenians we tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness in your local community. From tackling food insecurity, to securing accommodation with wrap-around support, to working with families through our mediation services, to exploring employment opportunities and supporting people to meet their full potential, our projects change lives for the better. With your help we can take that a step further.
Corporate volunteering with Cyrenians is a great way to engage with our work and enjoy a unique team-building experience. Benefits include:
- A chance to make a real difference in your local community
- An outstanding sense of achievement for all who take part
- An excellent public relations opportunity
- Low cost
We currently have corporate volunteering opportunities at our Farm and our FareShare Depot, which we can tailor to your needs.
You'll be provided health and safety training on site, supervision throughout, and learn more about the work we do tackling food inequality.

Why Cyrenians?
Volunteering is at the heart of what we do and we’ve got a great track record of delivering successful corporate volunteering opportunities for local and national businesses. In 2020-21, 560 corporate volunteers gave over 2,800 hours to our projects.
But don’t take our word for it! We’ve received some amazing feedback too:
“We had such a fantastic afternoon, it was all really well organised – Sam was fab as our coordinator – and such a satisfying and great team building activity, everyone worked really hard and we got loads of orders packed up and ready to go.”
- Marisa, Artemis Fund Managers
“It was a really different and fun experience for me. Sam, our host, was very welcoming and friendly, as was every volunteer we had the pleasure of meeting and working with."
- Shelagh, BTO Solicitors
What does it involve?
Cyrenians Farm
Our community farm is situated near Kirknewton in West Lothian, only 10 miles from Edinburgh city centre. Our farm is home to one of our young-people’s communities and the surrounding working farm is a social enterprise providing opportunities for residents, volunteers and visitors to grow food, skills and community.
There’s plenty to get stuck into at the Farm, such as potting up and planting native trees, weeding and harvesting fruit and vegetables, or bigger projects like making raised beds or planters.
We can offer a half-day experience for 10-12 people and for larger groups on request.
FareShare Depot
Our FareShare Depot in Leith is a thriving surplus food hub connecting the local community to good quality food that otherwise would go to landfill.
From packaging printing errors, to over-ordering issues, we work with major retailers and suppliers such as the Co-op, Tesco and Asda to redirect high quality food to those who need it most. Right now, we’re distributing the equivalent of 20,000 meals a week to our local community.
Your team will work with our depot staff to help pick, pack and deliver orders, helping us ensure that nobody goes hungry and that good food doesn't go to waste.
We can offer a half-day experience for 4-6 people and for larger groups on request.
How much does it cost?
We ask for a suggested volunteering donation of £50 per head for organisations that are given a budget to support this. Please note this is only suggested and we'd be happy to work out a bespoke opportunity to suit you if this isn’t the case.
