SCAPE Scotland fundraiser supports Cyrenians FareShare depot team
Thanks to SCAPE Scotland and their successful Golf Away Day at the Dalmahoy Hotel which raised £4,400 for Cyrenians, our FareShare depot team are working at bigger, higher, brand new stainless-steel tables as they pack crates of food orders to be sent out into the community.
Our depot team is always hard at work making sure food that would otherwise go to waste and landfill gets to local community pantries, breakfast clubs, charities, and whoever needs it most.
New high quality steel tables mean that our staff, volunteers and employability programme participants can stand, work and gather at taller, larger, more stable tables. With space to fit 15 people, the new tables make working safer, more comfortable and more social as our team sort and pack delivery orders.
Our depot is part of the UK FareShare and Felix Project network, working to save surplus food, support people in unemployment and build community with 140 community food members across Edinburgh. Our community food members work with us to turn our food deliveries into delicious and nutritious meals, reaching out to those who need it most. From veterans’ groups, to breakfast clubs, community centres to community homes – our community food members are connected to members of the community who may not have access to other means. By connecting together, we are able to create a network of support that reaches people facing food insecurity and social isolation.
Over the last two years, we’ve delivered millions of meals and saved over a thousand tonnes of food from going to waste.
With corporate supporters like SCAPE, we are able to keep providing food, community and support to those who need it.
