Cyrenians Appoints Kate Wallace as New Chief Executive

Cyrenians has announced the appointment of Kate Wallace as their new Chief Executive, succeeding Ewan Aitken, who will leave Cyrenians on 25 June. 

Kate will join Cyrenians in May allowing time to meet staff and services ahead of taking up the role formally at the end of June. 

Kate brings more than 15 years of leadership experience across homelessness, children’s services and victim support. Her early career included working in rough sleeping projects in Glasgow, followed by senior leadership roles with Barnardo’s and Visualise Scotland. She most recently served as Chief Executive of Victim Support Scotland for eight years. 

John Lawrie, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said: 

“Kate is an experienced leader with a strong commitment to social justice and inclusion. The Board is confident she will build on Cyrenians’ strong foundations and lead the organisation with integrity and purpose.” 

Ewan Aitken, Cyrenians CEO, said: 

“It has been a privilege to lead Cyrenians, and I am delighted to be handing over to Kate. She brings insight, compassion and energy, and a real commitment to values led leadership and I know the organisation will be in excellent hands.”  

Kate Wallace said: 

“Cyrenians’ work and values resonate deeply with me. I am excited to join the organisation, meet colleagues and partners, and work together to support people facing exclusion and disadvantage.” 

Kate’s appointment follows a comprehensive recruitment process led by the Board of Trustees.
