Cyrenians was delighted to welcome colleagues from Flight Club Edinburgh and the Yellow Ball Foundation to our Green Skills Centre this week as part of their nationwide Follow That Fire Engine Charity Tour.

The team – travelling the country in their legendary fire engine Martha – are visiting 15 venues across the UK to mark Flight Club’s 10th anniversary, celebrating community, connection, and giving back to local causes close to the hearts of their teams. We’re proud to be one of 21 charity partners benefiting from the tour’s fundraising efforts.

As part of the Edinburgh leg, Flight Club colleagues swapped darts for gardening gloves, joining our team and volunteers at the Green Skills Centre for a day of hands-on support. Together, they helped pick nasturtiums and toured the orchards, getting a first-hand look at how the Centre helps young people grow confidence, skills, and brighter futures.

After a busy day on our farm, the Flight Club Edinburgh team hosted a special charity tournament evening in their city-centre venue, bringing together partners, supporters and local stakeholders for a night of darts, pizza and fundraising fun. Every penny raised will go directly to the Yellow Ball Foundation, which supports local and national charities across the UK – including Cyrenians.

So far, through the Foundation’s efforts, more than £175,000 has been raised for 21 charities, with donations continuing to climb as the tour travels on.

Phoebe, Sales and Events Manager at Flight Club Edinburgh said, "Being able to give back to our community is so important to us and it has been such a pleasure to get to support Cyrenians.

For our Edinburgh charity choice we wanted to make sure to choose a charity that is working towards a better future for Scotland. The Green Skills Centre is a fantastic example of this, teaching employability skills and showing young people other pathways outside of traditional education and it was so much fun to get to experience the space ourselves. Hosting a charity tournament was a really fun way to get other local businesses involved and introduce more supporters to a great cause."

We’re incredibly grateful to the teams at Flight Club Edinburgh and the Yellow Ball Foundation for their enthusiasm, energy and generosity. Their support helps us continue vital work across Scotland – tackling the causes and consequences of homelessness, and building stronger, fairer communities.
