Creative Natives
Creative Natives is a creative engagement and wellbeing project for young people aged 14-24, based in a working art and design studio at St Margaret's House in Edinburgh. The service provides a supportive, non-formal environment where young people can build confidence, strengthen social connections and develop creative and transferable skills.
The project combines creative learning with holistic, relationship-based support delivered by a team of keyworkers, artists and volunteers. Young people are encouraged to lead their own creative projects while developing skills in areas such as graphic design, photography, filmmaking, drawing, painting and digital media.
Creative Natives is particularly valuable for young people who may benefit from a positive community environment, increased social connection, confidence-building opportunities or additional support to engage with education, training or employment pathways. As an accessible "third space", it offers meaningful opportunities for self-expression, skill development and personal growth outside of school, work or home environments.
Alongside creative development, participants can receive support with CV building, portfolio creation and identifying future aspirations and goals.
Professionals looking to connect a young person with a supportive, strengths-based creative programme can contact Grantpringle@cyrenians.scot for more information about attending the studio.
