Women in Safe Homes (WiSH)

The Women in Safe Homes (WiSH) service provides secure, long-term housing for women experiencing or at risk of homelessness as a result of domestic abuse. Delivered by Cyrenians in partnership with the Women in Safe Homes Fund, the service offers an alternative to unsuitable temporary accommodation by combining high-quality housing with specialist, person-centred support.

The service is designed for women who require safe, stable accommodation to recover from abuse and establish long-term housing security. WiSH operates using principles similar to Cyrenians' Housing First approach, recognising that access to a permanent, secure home provides the foundation from which people can address wider challenges and rebuild their lives.

Alongside accommodation, women receive tailored support to sustain their tenancy, recover from trauma, access services, strengthen family wellbeing, and pursue education, employment or other personal goals. The service seeks to reduce the risk of repeat homelessness while promoting safety, independence and long-term stability.

WiSH is particularly relevant for women who may find mainstream homelessness services unsuitable or retraumatising due to experiences of domestic abuse. By providing safe homes and ongoing support, the service enables women and their children to move beyond crisis and build positive futures.
