Social Bite Village
The Social Bite Village is a supported residential community in Granton, Edinburgh, providing accommodation for up to 16 individuals who have been assessed as homeless. Built by Social Bite and operated by Cyrenians, the service offers a community-based alternative for people preparing to move on to permanent tenancies.
Accommodation consists of ten small houses shared by two residents, alongside a central HUB that provides communal facilities, activities, laundry services and space for staff support. The service combines housing with structured support, creating an environment that promotes wellbeing, confidence and independent living skills.
Residents are supported by a dedicated staff team, live-in volunteers and out-of-hours cover. Support focuses on helping individuals engage with education, training, employment opportunities and wider community activities, while strengthening the skills and resilience needed to sustain future housing.
A key feature of the model is its emphasis on community participation and peer support, helping residents develop positive relationships and a stronger sense of belonging. The service is also pet-friendly, reducing a common barrier to accommodation for some individuals experiencing homelessness.
