Chances: Gambling Support

Chances is a national gambling support service delivering free, person-centred support across Scotland for individuals aged 16+ who are experiencing gambling-related harm, are in recovery, or are affected by someone else's gambling.

The service provides flexible one-to-one support, available face-to-face, online, and by phone, enabling referrals from a wide range of community, health, housing, welfare and justice settings. Support addresses gambling behaviour alongside the wider factors that often accompany gambling harm, including financial difficulties, emotional wellbeing, social isolation and recovery planning.

Interventions include harm reduction and recovery support, self-exclusion guidance, budgeting and financial signposting, psychoeducation, wellbeing tools, community connection and relapse prevention. Family members and affected others can also access dedicated support independently, using evidence-informed approaches that strengthen communication, resilience and wellbeing.

Alongside direct support, Chances delivers targeted group programmes, community outreach and training for professionals throughout Scotland. Training ranges from introductory awareness sessions to more comprehensive learning opportunities and can be tailored to specific sectors and organisations.

The service is committed to reaching people who may face barriers to support and works proactively to engage marginalised communities through an established outreach approach.
