Addiewell Visitors Centre

Having a loved one in prison can be difficult and overwhelming, affecting every aspect of family life. Our HMP Addiewell Family Support service is here to provide practical and emotional support to help you navigate this challenging time.

Based within the family-friendly visitor centre at HMP Addiewell, our team offers a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for anyone supporting a family member, partner or friend in prison. Whether you're visiting regularly, preparing for your first visit, or struggling to stay connected with a loved one, we're here to listen and help.

We provide emotional support, information, advice and signposting to local services, helping families access the support they need around issues such as wellbeing, finances, benefits and family relationships. We understand that imprisonment can place significant pressure on individuals and families, and we work alongside you to help reduce some of those challenges.

Support is available both in person and remotely by phone or email, ensuring help is accessible even if you are unable to visit the prison.

Our goal is to help families maintain positive connections, strengthen relationships and feel supported throughout their journey.

The visitor centre is open Tuesday to Friday, 1pm to 9pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 9:30am to 5:30pm. You can also access our visitor and health information packs to learn more about what to expect when visiting HMP Addiewell and the support available to you and your family.
