Opportunities for Active Lives (OPAL)
OPAL supports people aged 60 and over across West Lothian to stay active, independent and connected to their communities. Whether you're looking to meet new people, build confidence, learn new skills or simply get out and about more, OPAL offers a range of friendly and welcoming opportunities to help you live well and stay socially connected.
The service provides a variety of community groups, including social, activity, walking, singing, men's and lunch groups, where people can enjoy shared interests, make new friendships and take part in local activities. Participants can enjoy everything from gentle exercise and quizzes to walks, entertainment and opportunities to learn new skills.
For those who need a little extra support, OPAL also offers one-to-one volunteer support. This time-limited service helps people build confidence, reconnect with their community and work towards personal goals through local outings, confidence-building walks, phone calls and support to attend community activities. Self-referrals are welcome.
OPAL also provides digital support to help people feel more confident using smartphones, tablets and computers, making it easier to stay connected and access everyday services.
