NHS Green Spaces

Our NHS Green Space Projects use gardening, nature and community connection to support people’s health and wellbeing. Delivered in partnership with NHS Lothian, the projects are based at the community gardens at Royal Edinburgh Community Hospital and Midlothian Community Hospital, both of which are open to the public throughout the week.

The gardens provide a welcoming and inclusive space where people can spend time outdoors, meet others, learn new skills and enjoy the benefits of being in nature. Activities include growing food, gardening, creative projects and therapeutic group sessions, all designed to improve wellbeing and reduce social isolation.

We particularly welcome people experiencing mental or physical health challenges, loneliness, poverty or other life difficulties. No gardening experience is needed, and people can get involved in a way that suits their interests, confidence and abilities.

Whether you're looking for a friendly place to meet people, improve your wellbeing, learn new skills or simply enjoy a peaceful green space, our gardens offer opportunities to connect, grow and thrive in a supportive environment.
