Flavour and Haver Community Cook School

Cyrenians' food education programmes help people build confidence in the kitchen, learn practical life skills and gain qualifications that can support future employment opportunities. Based at the Flavour and Haver Community Cook School in Leith, these programmes use food as a way to improve wellbeing, develop independence and bring people together.

Whether you're looking to learn the basics of cooking, improve your confidence preparing healthy meals, gain accredited hospitality qualifications or meet new people through a shared interest in food, there are a range of opportunities available. Courses cover food preparation, budgeting, meal planning, food hygiene and cooking from scratch, helping participants develop skills that can be used every day.

For those interested in employment or further training, accredited qualifications are available through courses recognised by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS), including food hygiene and cooking skills certifications.

Young people can also take part in the Youth Cook Club, where they can learn new recipes, develop cooking skills, make friends and build confidence in a fun and supportive environment.

No matter your starting point, our programmes provide a welcoming space to learn, connect with others and develop valuable skills for life.
