Youth Cook Club
Our Cyrenians Youth Club Cook Club for 12-15 year olds is a place for young people to learn cooking skills and recipes, make social connections and take on some responsibility in the kitchen.
The Youth Cook Club meets once a week at the Cyrenians Cook School, located at 66-68 Jane Street, Edinburgh. Our sessions are on Wednesdays from 4-7pm.
At our cook club, we focus on creating delicious dishes inspired by our club members and the food available at Cyrenians Felix Food Distribution Depot. Our community food workers, Ellie and Shana provide recipes, ingredients, and guidance to the young people, but we encourage everyone to find their voice and flair as a chef.
The most important moment of our club is when we all gather together to enjoy the meals we've prepared. Sharing a meal creates a sense of community and allows us to appreciate our culinary creations. It's a fantastic opportunity to bond and connect with fellow young chefs.
Responsibility is a core value at our cook club. Each member is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety in their own workspace. We believe in fostering a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.
Communication is key, and we use WhatsApp as a platform to share pictures of our mouth-watering dishes. Additionally, we occasionally venture outdoors for special cooking sessions, making the most of different environments and settings.
