Chances: Gambling Support
Our gambling service supports people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, who are also negatively impacted by gambling. Support can be offered to the person gambling, and/or to friends or family members affected by someone else’s gambling.
We offer one-to-one non-judgemental tailored support to people gambling to help them reach their goals; whether aiming to reduce gambling or stop gambling completely.
The support we provide to family and friends impacted by gambling is focused on them, rather than the person who gambles. Family and friends are welcome to receive support whether the person gambling is being supported or not.
We can provide the following support for gamblers:
- Practical support with self exclusion from gambling apps, websites and premises and/or setting limits
- Budgeting and financial support and signposting
- Learning about why people develop issues with gambling and what happens in the brain
- Understanding personal gambling behaviour and making appropriate changes
- How to improve other areas of life to reduce the desire to gamble
- Developing individual and community connections for recovery
We can provide family and friends support with:
- Learning about why people develop issues with gambling
- Understanding your loved ones’ behaviour
- Understanding more about the gambling support available to your loved one
- Budgeting and finance issues
- Enhancing communication skills
- Looking after your wellbeing if your loved one is gambling
- Developing individual and community connections for further support
We understand asking for help can be difficult so want to make sure you get the support you need, in the way that works best for you. Our Chances: Gambling Support team can work with people face-to-face, online, or by phone.
