Cyrenians OPAL (Opportunities for Active Lives) Borders works with people aged 60+, promoting active and fulfilling lives - creating and enriching communities which empower all to remain independent and socially connected.
The service provides social activity groups across Eildon Sheltered Housing developments for tenants and for the wider community in Peebles, Galashiels, Hawick and Kelso. OPAL Borders is delivered in partnership with Eildon Housing.
Our free-to-attend groups offer social interactions including gentle chair exercises, quizzes and games. With speaker’s music and arts and crafts & walk it activities. We also work with the Health and Social Care partnership Local Area Coordinators for our men’s group Pie and a Brew helping men to socially connect. Our link up with Alzheimer’s Scotland providing dementia support with the Forget Me Not Café.
Group members can decide on the activities they'd like to take part in. For example, these can include things like: singing & entertainment, games, talks from speakers, quizzes, walking groups, and much more. Groups are free to attend, and light refreshments are provided.
