Exciting live-in volunteer opportunity with your own studio bedroom within a community in central Edinburgh.

We have spaces available for 6-9 months or more to support unaccompanied asylum seeking young people (aged 16-18) settle into life in Scotland's capital. Start from 1st of August or 1st of October.

Your housing costs are covered (including rent, wifi and bills) with this role, though you will need to buy your own food.  The flexibility of hours required are well suited to other part time employment or studies you may have.

Volunteer support for a resident may include:

  • Supporting them to explore new areas of Edinburgh
  • Assisting with bidding for housing and moving on (training provided)
  • Facilitating community activities
  • Acting as a sounding board for a problem or difficult situation
  • Offering mature and calm guidance

About you:

  • Good grasp of written and spoken English
  • UK, Irish or Commonwealth citizen with the right to work in the UK, an EU passport holder with settled or pre-settled status or a BNO passport holder (Hong Kong)
  • Positive attitude and willingness to get involved in community activities 
  • Approachable and available to residents within set boundaries
  • Happy to undertake relevant training 
  • Enthusiastic and optimistic for change and progression
