On Wednesday 12th July 2017 Cyrenians hosted a fundraiser event at The Stand Comedy Club in Edinburgh. With over 80 attendees, the show raised £1234.13 from ticket sales, raffle and donations.
Cyrenians CEO, Ewan Aitken began the night by introducing the charity and sharing the story of a gentleman who journeyed with Cyrenains Recovery Programme.
“On receiving his graduation certificate, Colin stood before the crowed room and said “I am proud to tell you that today is the first day in 38 years I have been clean of drugs or alcohol”. He’d begun drinking at 11 because of abuse at home. His has been a long journey with huge challenge but he’s now on a path of real change. All the money raised tonight will support people like Colin on their journey out of these tough realities.”
Cyrenians would like to thank all those who attended the fundraiser and must give special thanks to all of the fantastic comedians who performed on the night; Wayne Mazadza, Calum MacInnes, Jim Park and Keir McAllister, and the highly entertaining compere, Susan Morrison.
